Roy Lichtenstein
Detail of Imperfect. Woodcut, screenprint, collage, 1988.
Lichtenstein was one of the leading exponents of Pop Art. Often taking comic-book panels as a starting point, the artist transformed the scale, colour and meaning of those images – creating art that parodied and subverted the mystique of painting.
